He stopped at the Fishin 'Hole the other day, which is one of my favorite fishing tackle / supplier / sandwich shops. (Talk about your one-stop shopping!)
I was looking for a good 8 weight line to take in Alaska.
What I came away with an update about four different people who had just returned from Alaska.
Now, for those of you who have followed my maiden voyage next to The Last Frontier, you know I'm the head in a week from today. SoIt 'been nice to have some' first hand what is happening, and how fishing is heard.
I'm obviously a bit 'concerned that since the small town of Shady Cove, Oregon - there were four people who recently Alaska there at that time that the fishing equipment / supplier / sandwich shop! Are you the relationship of these four people at that time and the probability that they were in Alaska and that multply across the country .... well ..... iswith a fairly high number dang!
And to think I was worried about mosquitoes.
In any case, a boy happened to have a photo album and all I had to say was that I was headed to Alaska - and, of course, took the album and left me rather dandy Halibut that weighed at 178 pounds. He also said that if he is not one of those tapes that you used to fight Marlin, he would probably recovering from hernia surgery. I of course said the fish was nice - but I wasmore concerned with mosquitoes.
I said do not worry that sounds him.Hmmmm fish for me.
Another person reported that the Kenai - Kenai capture humble --- well, and have captured some really nice King Salmon. They were not bragging about size so they were either very large or very small.
Not sure.
They also went fishing and caught a 20 pound Halibut, certainly not large by the standards of Alaska. They also reported that every person on the boat threw up theirguts.
Now there is something to look forward to. I hope to fish from a Princess cruise ship - but I doubt it.
I also asked how the mosquitoes?
We quote: "Oh my God, they were as big as birds!"
Nice. Vomiting, scratching, and hernia surgery!
We discussed the various options and compensation of DEET, but it seemed that it made it more difficult for mosquitoes Skeeter to find a way to describe your life miserable.Theyapproaches, "like a black cloud 'and then wraps them in a blood sucking frenzy.
Sounds like a Stephen King novel.
A girl a bottle of some "natural" repellent DEET-free, and offered a very weak, "our friends used this up to Diamond Lake last week and said that this stuff is 'the bomb'."
Unless you meant "bug bomb" - I was not going to experiment with anything unproven. Furthermore, the difference between the Diamond Lake mosquitoes and the Kenai Peninsulamosquito was probably the difference between Peoria and Yankee Stadium. I told her that I tried, but I need your mobile number so you can be sure to call at midnight, if the spray "natural" has been ineffective.
He pulled the bottle from the counter faster than a Ford truck recall goes out.
So it sounded like the fishing was about as expected, and the mosquitoes were as expected.
I also got a call from another friend who wanted to go fishing on the KlamathRiver, in California, the week after I return. He is a veteran of Alaska fishing so the types of information to offer good catches of some Silvers, including a model "special" fly that has developed and had the same tires. I now have official "field tester" - because I suspect he thinks, if I take a fish with ... has real marketing potential. So look for the appearance of "two guys with flies" website if it works. If you do not ... well ... You can always find myswollen festering sores of the mosquito.
I also checked with my good friend Tom, who if you remember, the last river floating Kisaralik Lun and returned and reported a successful trip, in the sense that no one was eaten by a bear, and she returned with the same staff , who left with.
Oh, and fishing has been great for Big Trout, and of course - Deet had little or no effect on stopping the attack mosquitoes. As evidenced by his scabs on his arm full of bites and"Calamine lotioned" skin color.
Received a call from Ranger Kurt - and he almost laughed maniacally and said things like: "August in Alaska", "August in Alaska", "ah ah ah ah ......."
Maybe a couple of bites by many to be his last trip?
Well, that's about it from the front.
I will be busy this week and finished the week my clothes in Deet ...
